What is electrical engineering?
Electrical engineering is an engineering field that dates back to the early 17th century. It is a field of engineering that deals with the study and application of technologies related to electronics, electricity and electromagnetism. It was in the later part of the 19th century that it became known as an identifiable occupation. This was the time when the use of electronic machines like the telephone, the electric telegraph and the distribution of electrical power came about.
Electrical engineering is a very vast program entailing in depth studies into several sub fields. These fields include power engineering, electronics, signal processing, digital computers, telecommunication, instrumentation, control systems and microelectronics. Most of these subdivisions mentioned overlap.
There are so many subdivisions that are under electrical engineering. Although there are some electrical engineers that solely study these courses, some also combine them in their studies. The following are some of the sub disciplines that are studied under electrical engineering
